By reducing anxiety and fear through hypnotherapy, the Fear-Tension-Pain Cycle is broken. Fear intensifies the birthing experience: when a mother is fearful, her body releases stress hormones like adrenaline, which can tense muscles, including the uterus, and slow down labour.

There are a wealth of studies supporting that hypnotherapy promotes a positive birth experience, empowering mother’s to be in control of their labour, and enhancing the bond between mother and baby.

What is the difference between “hypnobirthing” and hypnotherapy for birth?

“Hypnobirthing” is a structured, childbirth education program which incorporates elements of Hypnosis.

Whereas, Hypnotherapy for birth (which is what I offer) is a more holistic approach. It is a broader term encompassing various approaches, including using hypnosis for deep relaxation, pain management and anxiety reduction. The approach is freer and allows each hypnotherapist to tailor their services to specifically suit each mother’s wants and needs.

What can I expect from a hypnotherapy session?

  • We will work with both your Conscious and Subconscious minds - approximately half of the session will be talking therapy and the other half you will be guided into hypnosis.

  • A key part of our sessions will be understanding the science of pain, learning about the physiological and psychological processing of pain as well as how a positive mindset can literally change the chemicals within your body.

  • I will support you in connecting with your natural birthing instinct, empowering you to trust your mind and body - a body that is perfectly designed to birth your baby.

  • Whilst under hypnosis you will enjoy deep relaxation and positive suggestions.

  • We will identify your specific triggers, manage and eliminate them.

  • You will learn coping mechanisms to help from the early stages of pregnancy to birth and beyond.

  • Ego-strengthening will help you build a positive sense of self and a greater sense of purpose.

  • Negative thought patterns and self-limiting beliefs will be replaced with positive ones.

  • You will be given a bespoke Audio Recording to listen to in between sessions to accelerate transformation.

  • When you are happy with your results you will receive a tailored Birth Plan to support you after our sessions end and take with you into your labour.
