My Hypnotherapy Story

The First Step

I understand just how nerve wracking it can be to take that first step towards a healthier and happier you. Change is scary, even when it’s positive. In the past, I’ve ignored the warning signs. I’ve neglected my needs and burned out. I’ve tried and failed to do it all. I’ve juggled too much attempting to manoeuvre modern life: competing demands from work, family and friends, comparison culture, pressure for constant connection… it’s no wonder that 1 in 9 adults in the UK report feeling stressed every day. But it doesn’t have to be this way. You can choose a different path, a gentler one. It just takes a bit of bravery in taking that first step. But when you do take that step, it feels incredible.

Overcoming Stress

Cast your mind back to 2020: the Covid-19 pandemic shook the world and I was overwhelmed. Hypnotherapy allowed me to re-discover my purpose. When I was guided into hypnosis, I was able to fully relax into myself. I reconnected with who I really am - I have a huge heart and feel most fulfilled when I’m connecting with others. I realised I needed to change. I wanted a career where I could help people in a way that felt authentically me. Hypnotherapy allowed me to overcome stress and commit to a new professional path, the right path for me.

Bypassing Self-Limiting Beliefs

For almost 8 years I felt like I was trapped in a maze with no way out - why did I keep dating emotionally unavailable men? I tried psychodynamic therapy, which did help a little, but I still found myself stuck in the same toxic loop of dating. It was heartbreaking. Real change occurred when I tried hypnotherapy. By engaging with my subconscious mind I was able to bypass my self-limiting beliefs. I moved away from the old script of my love life. I started a new story. My confidence and self-esteem blossomed. I began gravitating towards men who were kind, consistent and who wanted what I wanted - a loving relationship. My partner and I have created a beautiful home together - we can’t wait to adopt our cat ‘Hank.’

My Style

Hypnotherapy has helped me in countless ways: beating social anxiety, achieving my goals and even ridding me of a cheese and onion sandwich phobia! These life experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly, have shaped me into the hypnotherapist I am today. My passion for hypnotherapy knows no bounds. I love creating safe spaces that are calm and non-judgemental. To every session I bring a warm smile and a listening ear. Your wellbeing is my priority.

Integrity and trust are paramount to my practice. I’m registered with the Hypnotherapy Directory and the National Hypnotherapy Society which is the only specialist Hypnotherapy register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. I’m committed to professional excellence, regularly participating with Continuing Professional Development (CPDs), most recently with the Halifax Hypnotherapy Clinic and The Hypnotherapy Academy. To ensure I’m providing the best, most ethical care possible, I receive regular clinical supervision with Lauren Kolb from Fylde Hypnotherapy and mentorship with award-winning hypnotherapist Katie Churms from Songbird Hypnotherapy - rest assured you're in safe hands.

My Background

Prior to founding Discover Therapy, my background spanned 10 years across Theatre, TV and the Police providing me with unique insights into humanity, psychology and trauma. I studied for 3 years with the Highgate Counselling Centre and Chrysalis, the only UK Hypnotherapy course listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). My approach to hypnotherapy is holistic. I have a broad therapeutic background, covering a range of therapy styles: hypnotherapy, psychodynamic, person centred and CBT.
